Southĭry conditions continued across much of the Southern region this week while heavy precipitation fell over parts of eastern Texas to southern Oklahoma. Moderate drought (D1) was expanded in Georgia, eastern Alabama, northern South Carolina and western North Carolina, while abnormal dryness (D0) was expanded in small parts of eastern Alabama and northern South Carolina. Moderate drought (D2) was expanded in parts of Alabama and Georgia, while D2 was introduced in parts of western North Carolina and southwest South Carolina this week. Based on these short-term indicators, extreme drought (D3) was expanded in southern Alabama and introduced in parts of northern Alabama and Georgia where precipitation amounts for the last 7 days were less than 5% of normal and range between 2-4 inches below normal for the month. The drought expansion and intensification was based on short-term SPI/SPEI, NDMC’s short-term blend, streamflow and soil moisture data. Precipitation fell across much of the region this week but rainfall amounts were well below normal, resulting in another week of 1-category degradations across parts of Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas. Much of New York remained dry this week, justifying the expansion of D0 and D1 in western New York where precipitation is less than 25% of normal for the week. NortheastĪbove-normal precipitation fell across much of New England and in southern portions of the region, resulting in improvements to abnormal dryness (D0) and moderate drought(D1) in West Virginia. In Hawaii, drought continues to intensify across all islands, while no changes occurred on Kauai. In the Southwest, near- to record-warm temperatures coupled with below-normal precipitation for the month, resulted in degradation in the southern parts of the region. Dry conditions continued across much of the Southern region, with widespread degradations occurring across the Tennessee Valley, central Mississippi Valley and northern parts of the Southeast. The most widespread improvements were made to parts of eastern Texas, central Wisconsin and in parts of the Ohio River Valley, where above-normal precipitation was observed this past week. While a front extending from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast produced rain over parts of Ohio Valley and Great Lakes before moving eastward and bringing rain to parts of the Northeast and Southeast. A strong upper-level ridge dominated much of the western U.S., providing anomalously warm temperatures, by as much as 20 degrees above average, and dry conditions over the central and western parts of the country. The beginning of a presentation is very important! This is when you have an opportunity to grab the audience's attention, and set the tone for your presentation. This unknown Agate has warm blue skin, unknown colored eyes, and bright aqua and cool green hair.Īmethysts come in various shades of purple and occasionally red. Her gemstone is located on her lower back. Unknown Agate - An Agate (presumably a Holly Blue) is seen watching Steven's message in an unknown gem city.Yellow Diamond's Agates - Agates who reside in one of Yellow Diamond's Asteroid Mines, first mentioned by Rhodonite in "Your Mother and Mine".They were her bodyguards during the Rebellion, first mentioned by Blue Zircon in "The Trial". Pink Diamond's Agates - Agates who used to belong to Pink Diamond. They appear to serve as a form of manager for groups of other types of Quartzes, keeping them in line and ensuring that they perform their duties. So far, while other Agates have appeared, Holly Blue Agate is the only major Agate to be shown performing her role on Homeworld, where she is in charge of a group of Quartz soldiers and manages Pink Diamond's Zoo. Lace Amethyst - An Amethyst who was corrupted at the end of the war, but later healed during the events of " Change Your Mind".Īgates hold a position of authority slightly higher than other Quartzes. She emerged long after the Rebellion and joined the remaining Crystal Gems. Amethyst Facet-5 Cut-8XM - An undersized Amethyst created in the Prime Kindergarten.Quartzes that have been uncorrupted keep their horns as corruption scars. They have large, bulldog-like heads with prominently fanged underbites and a varying number of horns on their heads or where their facial features would be. Their hind limbs are relatively lean and gaunt, ending in cloven hooves like those of an ungulate. They have furry manes that extend down their backs and cover their tails, and large muscular forelimbs ending in broad forepaws that resemble hands. When corrupted, Quartz Gems take the form of giant, eyeless, wolf-like beasts with chimeric features. Decorated Quartzes, such as Jasper, can also wear capes over their uniforms, though these capes are separate appearance modifiers rather than irremovable parts of their physical forms. Some Quartzes may have patterns and bandings on their skin, resembling those of their real-life counterparts.Īll Homeworld Quartzes wear the standard Homeworld uniform, while Quartzes with a more managerial position, such as Agates, wear an additional shawl and boots. Quartzes have varied hair textures: Most of them have straight hair, but many curly-haired Quartzes exist. Quartzes have some of the longest and thickest hair of any gem, though Agates in particular tend to have their hair styled into short, neat buns to denote their rank. Their hair color is usually very pale, but darker hair is not uncommon. Their eye shapes, eye colors, noses, and jawlines vary. There is much diversity in Quartzes, even among those of the same Gem type. However, a few of these variant Quartzes are actually larger than average. Most of these Quartzes are much shorter or skinner than average, causing them to be considered "defective", though they still retain the full strength and abilities of a typical Quartz. Quartzes are much taller than the average Gem, with broad shoulders and a muscular build. Most Quartzes appear to have the same general height and build, though Quartzes with different body shapes have been known to occur, usually as a result of a poor-quality Kindergarten or an exceptionally long formation time. These types include Agates, who ranked higher than other Quartzes and seemed to be administrative in nature, and Citrines, who seemed to be guards for elite Gems (working for such high-ranking Gems as Emerald and Hessonite). Some types of Quartzes had a somewhat different role in the caste system. Quartzes are the most diverse known Gem type, with Gems including Amethysts, Carnelians, Jaspers and Rose Quartzes. According to Ian Jones-Quartey, some Quartzes are defense-oriented (similar to Rose Quartz) since "they can't all be tanks." Numerous Quartzes were made on Earth in the Prime and Beta Kindergartens. They appear to be less common than Rubies. Prior to Era 3, Quartzes were used as soldiers, guards, and escorts. Newly born gorilla babies are nursed by their mother for 2.5 to 3 years. This difference in the portion sizes is due to the differences in the body sizes and can vary from one gorilla to the next. An adult female mountain gorilla eats around 20 kilograms of food each day. Given the superior size of the silverback gorilla – almost twice the size of the adult female, it eats relatively more food than the female counterparts in order to get the needed energy.Ī silverback gorilla eats an estimated 34 kilograms of food in a day. This is why they have to eat much more food to be able to generate the required energy for survival. Mountain gorillas are herbivores and the leaves, stems, and buds they eat are low in energy. This is because of their large bodies that need more food to produce enough energy. How much do Mountain gorillas eat?Īn Adult Mountain gorilla eats an average of 27 kilograms of food in one day. Since they live in high altitude areas, the temperatures are low and a gorillas body doesn’t lose much heat in sweating. This is because a large portion of their diet is fresh leaves which are sufficiently hydrated already. Mountain gorillas do not often drink water to supplement their diet. The rest of the diet is flowers, roots, and invertebrates. More than 85 per cent of a mountain gorilla’s diet consists of leaves, stems, buds, and seeds from more than 140 edible plant species in the mountain gorilla’s natural habit. Since mountain gorillas live in high altitude areas, fruit trees are limited and thus fruits comprise a small (2 per cent) of their entire diet. this is because their environment doesn’t have a lot of fruits for them to eat. The diet of gorillas varies with the availability of food in their habitat. To put it simply, the diet of mountain gorillas is majorly made up of plant material such as leaves, stems, buds, piths, and barks among others. The fact that they do not survive in the captivity of zoos is another reason why people ask the question of what do mountain gorillas eat. Though stranger fitness fads have happened. What do Mountain Gorillas Eat? The closeness of Mountain gorillas to humans and their endangered life status makes one wonder what they eat that makes them so strong. In conclusion: you could never be as buff as a gorilla no matter what you did, so don't expect the "gorilla workout" to take off anytime soon. It's theorised humans aren't as mighty as apes because we've traded strength for control over our muscles. Raw power isn't necessarily better, though. (Bodybuilders can be more than 60 percent muscle.)īut in absolute terms (because they weigh more than twice as much as us), gorillas have a lot more muscle – which is why it's been estimated they could deadlift twice as much as the world's strongest man. Interestingly, gorillas' bodies don't have a lot more muscle than humans, in relative terms: one study put zoo gorillas' muscle mass at 37 percent of their overall weight, while the average man is 42 percent muscle and the average woman is 36 percent. Do you even lift, bro? (Roger Luijten, Flickr) But don't do steroids: they're risky, and they won't get you gorilla-strong anyway. Obviously, you can greatly alter your body's muscle mass if you alter your hormone profile – that's more or less what roids do. You don't need to lift heavy weights to get gains if your hormones do the heavy lifting for you: Belgian blue bulls, for example, are absurdly muscular because they're bred to produce less of a protein called myostatin, which inhibits muscle development. They don't get big because of their physical activity, but because of their hormone profiles, which (like their digestive systems) are very different to humans'. Gorillas are actually pretty lazy, spending half their time looking for food or eating and a third of it sleeping. While us humans need to use our muscles to make them bigger, this isn't so for other animals. It's not like gorillas spend their days in the forest deadlifting and benching. So you couldn't copy a gorilla's diet to get gorilla gains. Gorillas have gut bacteria that's better at both converting cellulose (plant matter) into energy and synthesising amino acids, which supercharge all that muscle mass.Īnd sadly, you couldn't even pop a pill of gorilla gut bacteria to borrow the effect: gorillas' whole digestive systems have evolved differently to ours to make them more efficient plant eaters. Threads on Reddit's AskScience forum have probed the gorilla question, revealing that the apes' intestines digest foods differently to humans'. Even if you were determined to shovel all that vegetation in your mouth, it wouldn't do you much good. 345 hp engine and four speed automatic transmission: $47,000.00.īase Corvette Hardtop Z06 with 346 cu. 345 hp engine and four speed automatic transmission: $40,475.00.īase Corvette Convertible with 346 cu. Regardless of the time or place in which we live, the threat of calamity is ever present. There is nothing more distasteful to the courageous than being presented with a man who would sell his own soul (or the souls of others) for a few extra minutes of oxygen. The redirections and rationalizations used by naysayers and quivering weaklings at the onset of any social crisis always carry the taste of logic, but in those of us who have resolved to stand firm in our principles, such excuses elicit reactions of utter disgust. In my years as an analyst and activist, I cannot possibly estimate how often I have heard cries of nihilism, futility, and submission. Apathy and fear cling to our culture like manure to a new leather shoe. Unfortunately, however, an incessant belief remains amongst a large subsection of Americans, who assume that there is no need to act, or to choose sides. Today, it’s all out in the open, and it’s nothing to be taken lightly. No longer is the fight between globalist and Constitutionalist obscured in the mire of cold war style information drilling and propaganda. With the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act and all the malicious intent contained within its virulent pages, many in the Liberty Movement, once relegated as “extremists” in documents such as the MIAC Report and the Virginia Fusion Center white papers, now find themselves faced with the very real possibility of being targeted as “enemy combatants” in their own country and in their own front yards. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Drop in extra sugar, and roll the cookie ball until fully coated in sugar. Roll in small balls (using a ½-tablespoon cookie scoop ). When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350☏. Some people like to use different shaped cookie cutters for gingerbread. Cover and chill dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight. This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies and only uses 1 3/4 cups of gluten free flour (not including surface dusting for rolling out). Because of that, this is the first year I’ve spent the time to adapt the recipe to gluten and dairy free. Fill a separate small bowl with sugar, and roll each ball in the sugar until it is completely coated. Once the dough is chilled and firm, roll the dough into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter. Even using regular flour, I cut that recipe in half, which makes about 4 dozen cookies. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, and set aside. One-half cup sugar One-half cup shortening One-half cup dark molasses One-fourth cup water Three-fourths teaspoon salt Three-fourths teaspoon ground ginger. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until 1/4 inch thick, dusting with flour as. My gingerbread recipe is good, but the original takes SEVEN cups of flour. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, place the shortening, butter. My usual gluten-and dairy free go-to recipes include sugar cookie cut outs, peanut butter blossoms (kiss cookies), cucidati (Italian fig cookies), and chocolate chip cookies. In a medium sized bowl, place flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and baking powder and combine with a fork. If you don’t read about that in the fine print, your baked goods will turn to dust. Some gluten free flours don’t contain binders. It is worth making your own all-purpose gluten free flour mix in order to get the right taste, texture and smell. That size recipe uses the least amount of flour, and right-sizes the batch. making smaller batchesīecause of this, I like to adapt recipes to yield 18-24 cookies. In other words, if your pie crust requires 12 cups shortening, use 1 cup butter instead. Using butter instead of shortening is very simple because it only takes one to one swap. I do this because only my kiddo needs gluten and dairy free cookies, and because the ingredients (especially the flour!) costs so much more. If you want to make a pie crust without shortening, you can use good old butter as an ingredient. When I make Christmas cookies, I make two versions: one using regular flour and one using gluten free-flour (and no dairy). Don't be skimpy with your royal icing Step 3 - Attach the sidewall and place it on a flat surface. Step 2 - Pipe a line on the sides of the front and back piece right along the edge. This is the first year I’ve made gingerbread cookies that are gluten and dairy free. Step 1 - Place some of the royal icing into a piping bag and cut off the end to make a small hole or use a 2 piping tip.
