![]() ![]() Got an electrician to wire it for around $1700. I was in the same boat as you and I ended up getting the Lifesmart LS600DX for $4,000. Lesson for me: buying from a dealer doesn't mean you'll get an easily-repairable spa if I'd bought a cheaper tub like from Costco I would have done what the dealer suggested. And the base plywood water-rotted during the couple years it took me to notice and get started repairing. So, I had to dismantle the glued-on vinyl/wood sides and dig out the sprayed-in foam to trace the leak back to a manifold which was installed too close to the shell for easy fixing, try various epoxy / etc fixes in those cramped quarters, then try to figure out how to reinstall the siding without the foam backing to glue to. ![]() when I declined that $8K option they sold me some stop-leak product which didn't do any good. they really didn't want to do that job, they suggested "buy another tub". when it started a slow leak a few years later (about 2010, I think) the dealer wanted $170 for the service visit then IIRC it was a bit over $100/hr. We bought our Hot Springs spa from a dealer back about 2000. ![]() You have given me some great points to consider! I can’t afford a $10k luxury hot tub and would like to at least be able to get something that can seat four comfortably and considering the reviews on these are pretty good I think I would be happy if I could get a good ten years out of this as opposed to dealing with an inflatable.Ĭostco normally has pretty amazing return policies on stuff like this and if it does come off the truck broken they will replace it but I believe it’s my cost to load it and ship it back. I don’t a very high end system and honestly am fairly happy with the idea of just being able to soak in hot tub with my wife and friends. I don’t think crappy jets are a big issue for me. Your points on the fiber glass being sprayed vs hand rolled as well as cheaper parts being encapsulated in foam making them impossible to repair are great. I do think Costco has some amazing products at a great price and do feel that they do a pretty good job vetting what they are selling which coupled with bigger companies having to unload stock sometimes works out great as opposed to a “to good to be true” deal. Thanks, you bring up some really great points. It's exactly like everything that sounds too good to be true, it's a low end tub at the price it's worth. Hell for $10k you can buy a lot better hot tub that thing is gonna cost you grief and agro and money for years till you get pissed off and dump it on Craigslist. It's a $5500 low end tub but really they just stripped out $5000 worth of real value. Massage is not about the number of jets it's all about the size and flow rate.Īgain low end plumbing systems cheap steel frame and you can knock off another $750. $1000 jet package a high end therapy massage tub will have a $3500 just package. Those jets are almost all low end low flow jets worth a tenner each so it's an $800 jet package it does have 1 high flow therapy massage jet that looks like it might hit you ass? And 6 mid flow jets so let's be generous and say it's. Now full foam is good, but not when it's a high density closed cell foam because this means your cheap low end plumbing is encapsulated in high density foam! it's a cheap way of holding low end plumbing systems together, supporting low end shells and cheap steel frames and adding insulation in one step but the cost to you is massive, it's almost impossible, and super expensive to repair leaks on these tubs. Notice this tub comes in around 550lbs lighter than a similar size high end tub with only 50 jets? That's 550lbs of structural fiberglass resin! And instead of hand rolling they spray glass and put a bunch of props and supports to get it through warranty. Strip $1500 out of the price of the shell. Strip $750 out for the installation curb side drop and if you break this low end rickety spa tough luck Here is what the mass merchant program looks like. Let's see what you bought for $5500 and see if this is a good deal on a good spa or just the price on a cheap low end product. There is a simple formula for mass merchant spas and this one fits it perfectly. I built tubs for Costco and the biggest mass merchants in the world for years. ![]()
